The Challenge
Create a web app with a mobile-first approach that enables anyone to instantly chat or book a call with an expert.
The Solution
Hearty is a mobile-first application that helps nourish the new mother by providing a wide range of recipes. The application will also offer the assistance of experienced professionals who focus on nutrition and specialize in different types of diets and postpartum. The goal is to support the new mother's recovery after birth and keep them fed and healthy during this new stage of their life.
The Process
Problem Statement
New parents need extra support during the first months of parenting. There is a lot of information on how to take care of the new born but not enough on how to care for the new mom.
There is a lot of responsibility on the partner, not only have to look after a baby but to look after the mom. There are many applications but none of them specials on the the mom nourishment.
Competitive Analysis
Baby Center provides information on conception, pregnancy, birth, and early childhood development for parents.
Ovia delivers health solutions for women and families, delivering personalized guidance, and reducing costs of infertility and pregnancy.
Surveys & Interviews
RESEARCH GOALS
Identify expectations and goals of our user while using similar applications
Identify attitudes towards social media and how it influences them in their daily lives
Identify user pain points with existing expert apps.
Uncover problems they encounter on existing apps.
User Personas and User Journey
I created two personas based on the results obtained from the surveys and interviews. The first one is an expecting mother and the second one is an expecting father. I wanted to make sure to include a family member taking into consideration that another caregiver will also be using the application.
Sitemap
After creating the personas and their journeys I created the first version of a sitemap. To get feedback I conducted an online sorting session and asked the participants to categorized the cards the way made more sense to them. Card sorting is a great way identify missing steps or to implement ones that I could be missing. the goal is to get a sitemap that represent a design that is more accessible.
Wireframes
On this stage I applied a 3 step process of wireframes with iterations. You can see the outcome on the following images.

Usability Test Report
After launching the application I conducted a usability test and this were the main goals to solve:
Determinate if the participant can find the Sign Up button and follow the process with out difficulties.
How easy is for the participants to get to the experts screen and select one of them to send her a message.
Make sure if they understand the process of sending a message or if they have any difficulties.
Can they find the option to make an appointment with the expert? Do they find the process straight forward and easy to follow?
Can they find the recipes page? Do they find the cards informative enough to get to the recipes?
Are the searching options easy to comprehend?
